The MY Parang Duku Chandong 10.5" is a compact and reliable parang made exclusively by hand in Malaysia, using time-honoured methods and only the finest materials available. It features a hand-quenched 10-inch blade made of high quality 5160 high carbon steel, fitted with a comfortable and traditional handle design made from renewably-sourced beech.
The traditional parang is embedded in everyday life and culture throughout Malaysia, where great pride is taken in crafting these heavy-duty tools. For this model, each blade has been sourced from Bidor in Perak, an area well known for its hardened 5160 carbon steel blades. The tang follows the conventional 'rat-tail' construction, a proven design that has withstood the test of time and evolution. For added confidence, the blade is also pinned underneath the copper collar using a 2.5 mm brass pin.
Shaped after the famous Duku Chandong used by Ray Mears, these parangs will perform any cutting and chopping duty with ease.
